14.3.3

Paper Separation control

A. Paper neutralization
• To neutralize any charge potential left in the paper which has undergone the image trans-
fer stage, there is the charge neutralizing plate fitted to the guide plate after the transfer
roller.
B. Paper separation
• Paper separation is accomplished through the curvature separation system that works
on the diameters of the drum and the image transfer roller.
Since the drum has a small diameter, there is no likelihood that the paper will be wound
around the drum. The paper is separated by its own weight.
• The charge neutralizing plate neutralizes any charge left on the paper after image trans-
fer, thereby preventing discharge noise that could otherwise occur when the paper is
separated.
• The drum paper separator fingers properly separate from the surface of the drum thin
paper or other type of paper that is hard to separate.
