Chapter 8 Illumination LEDs and Magic Key

8.1

Illumination LEDs

When the scanner is ready to scan, the illumination LEDs flash.
Two choices of "Always OFF" and "Automatic" are available for the illumination LEDs from the configuration
software (ScannerSetting_2D).
8.2

Magic key

8.2.1 Magic key function
You can choose whether or not to use the Magic key function according to your application using the configuration
software (ScannerSetting_2D).
Note: Do not apply a load of 10 N or more on this Magic key.
No function
No function is assigned to the Magic key. The scanner's operation does not change even if the Magic key is pressed.
Scanning ON/OFF mode
The scanner is switched between the standby state and the ready state even time the Magic key is pressed.
8.2.2 USB keyboard interface auto–switching function (for the QK31-U only)
If the Active USB-COM port driver is not installed in the computer, (1) hold on the magic key, (2) connect the
scanner's USB interface cable to the computer or its USB hub, and (3) release the magic key more than five seconds
later.
The scanner is automatically reconnected to the host computer soon after the interface is switched. This switching function is
enabled only when the scanner is configured to support the USB-COM interface. Using the configuration software can disable
this function. This interface setting is retained even if the power is turned off.
