Is Your ATV Ready to Ride?
Check these items after you get on the ATV:
Throttle
Brakes
Reverse Assist Lever
Headlight and
Headlight Dimmer
Switch
Engine Stop Switch
Steering
Remember, be sure to take care of any problem you find, or have
your dealer correct it before you ride.
Check the freeplay and adjust if needed.
Press the throttle to make sure it moves
smoothly without sticking, and snaps shut
automatically when it is released, in all
steering positions (page 126).
Squeeze the front and rear brake levers and
step on the rear brake pedal to check that
the controls operate normally. Check for
proper freeplay (pages 141, 145, 147). Make
sure there is no brake fluid leakage.
Check the freeplay and adjust if needed
(page 130). Make sure the lever operates
smoothly without sticking.
Check for proper function (page 31).
Check for proper function (page 30).
Check that the wheels turn properly as you
steer the handlebar. Move the handlebar
right and left and check that there is no
excessive backlash.
