Choosing the Receive Mode

There are three different receive modes for your MFC. You may choose the
mode that best suits your needs by pressing Receive Mode repeatedly until the
LCD shows the setting you want to use.

How it works
The MFC automatically
answers every call as a fax.
If an external telephone is
connected to the EXT. jack,
you control the phone line
and must answer every call
yourself.
If an external TAD
(telephone answering
device) is connected to the
EXT. jack, the TAD
automatically answers
every call. Voice messages
are stored in the external
TAD. Fax messages are
printed.
You control the phone line
and must answer every call
yourself.
When to use it
For dedicated fax lines.
Use this mode if you
receive very few faxes.
Use this mode if you have
an external answering
machine on your phone
line.
Use this mode when you are
using a computer modem on
the same line or if you receive
very few fax messages.
