INSTALLATION

12 COMBINED PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE RELIEF VALVE

A ¾" NPT relief valve is supplied with the boiler, which intervenes and drains the water from the tank if the pressure exceeds 150 psi (10.6
bar) and the temperature exceeds 180 °F (82 °C).
The valve must be positioned with the drain pointing downwards.
9
The relief valve connection piping to the boiler must not be the type that can be shut off.
9
The maximum operating pressure of the boiler and the domestic water circuit must not exceed the values 112, 5 psi (7.95 bar), or 75%
of the valve pressure calibration value.
9
To reduce the risk of excessive pressures and temperatures in this water heater, install temperature and pressure protective equip-
ment required by local codes and no less than a combination temperature and pressure relief valve certified by a nationally recog-
nized testing laboratory that maintains periodic inspection of production of listed equipment or materials, as meeting the require-
ments for Relief Valves and Automatic Gas Shutoff Devices for Hot Water Supply Systems, ANSI Z21.22. This valve must be marked with
a maximum set pressure not to exceed the marked maximum working pressure of the water heater. Install the valve into an opening
provided and marked for this purpose in the water heater, and orient it or provide tubing so that any discharge from the valve exits
only within 6 inches above, or at any distance below, the structural floor, and does not contact any live electrical part. The discharge
opening must not be blocked or reduced in size under any circumstances.
9
Once installation is complete, perform a functional test of the device, using the lever (6) to discharge the valve. If the water does not
discharge, the valve is not operating properly and must be replaced by professionally qualified personnel. Once the test is conclud-
ed, close the lever (6) and check the valve seal. Some of the material deposits in the water may obstruct the valve discharge outlet
and cause it to malfunction, so it is recommended to periodically check valve functioning. Perform a functional test on the valve at
least once a year.
9
Prior to engaging the lever (6), check that the valve is connected to a drainage line and be careful to avoid any contact with hot
water that could cause personal injury.
0
Do not plug or block the relief valve outlet.
