The Turn Wireless On icon is represented by an antenna, but when
you click the icon, the application name changes to Turn Wireless
Off and the icon changes to an airplane. The airplane icon is a
reminder to turn off your handheld's radio when you are on an
airplane, in a hospital, or in any place where your handheld might
interfere with other radio transmissions and frequencies.
Note: You should turn off your handheld's radio if you are going to be
out of a wireless coverage area for an extended period of time. Turning
off the radio conserves battery life.

network
If your handheld is activated on the Nextel wireless network, when
you turn on the wireless radio for the first time, a registration
message should arrive. In the rare case that the registration message
does not arrive, check the wireless coverage indicator on the Home
screen to verify that you are in an area of sufficient wireless
coverage for receiving email messages. You can receive email
messages if NXTL or NxTL and one or more bars appear with the
wireless coverage indicator in the upper right corner of the Home
screen.
Note: You cannot send or receive email messages if nxtl, nXtl, NXtl,
NXTl, or Nxtl appears below the wireless coverage indicator in the
upper right corner of the Home screen. Refer to the "Getting to know
your handheld" section of the online Handheld User Guide for more
information on the wireless coverage indicator.
If you are in a wireless coverage area and you have not received a
registration message, register your handheld manually.
