Removing the battery
Do not damage fuel tank, wir-
ing and hoses.
Before disconnecting the bat-
tery, switch off the ignition.
To avoid short-circuits:
• Disconnect the negative bat-
tery lead (—) 1 first,
• then the positive battery
lead (+) 3.

• Place the motorcycle on its
main stand on a firm, flat
surface
• Open the front seat,
( Rider's Manual, Chapter 1)

• Disconnect negative battery
lead 1 and swing it away from
the negative post of the bat-
tery or insulate it
• Open and remove the protec-
tive cap 2 for the battery pos-
itive terminal
• Disconnect battery positive
lead 3 and connection 4 for
the control unit of the reverser
and swing them up out of the
cable guide
