, &&D E^ 'D 'D General product information General description The DGM has two types of controls. 1. Push buttons on the top of the instrument. Four mechanical component, consisting of: the handle (pos. 20), the throttle valve (pos. 12), and the two hose connectors for the sampling hoses.
  • Page 16: Measurement Principle

, &&D E^ 'D 'D Measurement principle measurement measurement is based on measuring the luminescence of an oxygen-sensitive layer. The fluorescence changes depending on the partial oxygen pressure. The quantity of dissolved gas in the liquid is calculated by using the partial oxygen pressure and temperature. measurement The measurement of CO is based on Henry's law, which describes the equilibrium between a...
  • Page 17: O 2 Measurement

, &&D E^ 'D 'D measurement The oxygen sensor (pos. 23) is located behind the inlet (pos. 17) of the DGM and in front of the inlet to the CO measurement chamber (pos. 02). There are two different types of oxygen sensor available for the c-DGM. The LHO sensor is suitable for measuring very accurately at low oxygen concentrations, the WLO sensor is suitable for measuring for higher oxygen concentration over a wider measuring range.
  • Page 18: Tpo Measurement

, &&D E^ 'D 'D *TPO measurement When the c-DGM is used in combination with an ISD sampling device, the TPO value can be determined in a sealed product packet. The traditional Uhlig's method, whereby the DO value is multiplied by a Z factor (see Appendix I) is used to calculate the TPO value. The use of Uhlig's method is based on an oxygen balance between the oxygen dissolved in the liquid and the oxygen in the headspace volume.
  • Page 19: Installation

, &&D E^ 'D 'D Installation Contents of the delivery The o-DGM has been calibrated, checked and tested by Haffmans BV before delivery so that it is ready for immediate use. It is not necessary to calibrate the instrument. Make sure the delivery is complete and undamaged. If the delivery is incomplete or damaged, immediately notify Haffmans B.V.

  • Page 36 , &&D E^ 'D 'D 6.2.4.2 *O continuous measurement in gas With this measurement facility, the oxygen content is measured continuously while the gas to be measured flows through the c-DGM. This setting is typically used when filling systems with CO where for example the switching point from air to CO must be found.
  • Page 37: Combined Co 2 / Tpo Measurement

, &&D E^ 'D 'D 6.2.5 *Combined CO / TPO measurement With this measurement option the CO and O proceeds in the same manner as in the combined CO measurement. However, the total oxygen content of a package is calculated based on the dissolved O value measured.

, &&D E^ 'D 'D Calibration and compensation Calibration of the temperature sensor The temperature sensor is an accurate PT-100 that is associated with tight tolerances and therefore does not require calibration. A check can be performed by initiating a flow of liquid through the measurement chamber and comparing the temperature displayed on the DGM with a reading from a precision thermometer placed in the outlet of the DGM.
