Installing the PCI Riser Card

1. Attach the riser card (B) to the riser card bracket (A) with two screws (C).

NOTE
Most PCI add-in cards must be installed when the riser card is removed from
the chassis due to limited space between the riser card and the power supply.
2. Before installing the riser card on the server board, install any PCI cards. Refer to "Installing
Optional Peripherals and Devices/Add-In Cards" on page 34.
3. Place the riser card assembly on the appropriate server board slots (Figure 15). Ensure that the
rear retention bracket is centered on the opening in the rear of the chassis and that the riser card
connectors are aligned with the corresponding server board slots.
CAUTION
Press only on the riser card bracket and/or the standoffs. Do not press on the
64-bit connector or the orange flexible circuit attached to the standoffs.
4. Press the riser card firmly into the server board slots (A).
5. Ensure that tab on the riser card bracket is inserted in the slot of the bracket on the fan housing.
6. Reinstall the four thumbscrews in the rear retention bracket to secure the riser card assembly to
the chassis.
