ONNECTION TO A
Connection to the LAN from the ArgentOffice may be made via one of the eight
10BaseT ports on the front of the unit or via the AUI LAN port on the rear of the unit.
The LAN ports on the front of the unit are not labelled. The LAN port on the rear of the
unit is labelled as follows:
The right most 10BaseT LAN port on the front of the unit can be used for cascading to
other hubs without the need for a crossover cable.
The 'Daisy Chain' pushbutton to the right of this port is used to set the mode of this LAN
port (refer to Port Labelling, on page 11). When the 'Daisy Chain' switch is in the 'OUT'
position the port can be connected to a hub without the need for a crossover cable, i.e. the
port is an MDI type port. When the 'Daisy Chain' switch is in the 'IN' position the port
can be connected directly to a PC, as per the other seven 10BaseT LAN ports on the front
of the unit, i.e. the port is an MDI-X type port.
