You verify if the LECS-based LANE redundancy mode is enabled through
the LMA (see "Display LE Service Redundancy" on page 263 in the
Management Guide).
The LANE redundancy mechanism does not begin operating at system
power-up but rather has a user-adjustable start-up delay. There are two
reasons for this delay:


To allow time for the routing table in the switch to become established


To allow time for the LES and any installed CoreBuilder 7X00 cards to
start up and become initialized
Only after the start-up delay does the LECS begin establishing ATM
connections to the LESes in the network. During the delay period, all
requesting LECs are assigned to the primary LES of the requested ELAN.
The delay period can be adjusted by LMA and defaults to 600 seconds.

The following are the LANE redundancy limitations:


Number of LECs which are allowed to connect to the CoreBuilder
7000 switch:


When LANE redundancy enabled: 269


When LANE redundancy disabled: 349


Number of redundant ELANs: 64
If you assign a redundant LES to more than 64 ELANs you cannot change
to the LECS-based LANE redundancy mode.


Number of LES per ELAN: 2


Start up delay: 1-15 minutes, defaults to 10 minutes (user adjustable)
The following points should be taken into account when planning your
network to support LANE redundancy (see "Planning a Network with
E-IISP" on page 58 in the Management Guide for more information on
network planning).


ATM address structure and physical network connectivity should allow
for route recovery in case of switch or link failure.


Primary and secondary LESes for an ELAN should not be on the same
switch.
