This section describes operating considerations that apply to switch fabric
modules and interface modules (no on-board switching) operating with
software Release 3.0.5.
You cannot stage a module in one chassis type and then move this
module to another chassis type due to the variations in the backplane
port mapping. When you move a switch fabric module from one
chassis type to another chassis type, you must reset the module with
the
module nvData reset
Console. Failure to reset the configurations on the switch fabric
module in this situation can result in unpredictable behavior. Note
however, that if you set the staging bit, this reset happens
automatically.
When you create the system name, you can use spaces in the name
and no quotation marks are required. However, when you create a
module name that contains spaces, then you must use quotation
marks around the module name. 3Com recommends that you not use
spaces for the module name. (25677)
You may experience slow performance (response time) when you
perform a walk of the a3ComSystems MIB, particularly when you
request the address tables:
a3ComBridgePortAddressBridgeIndex
a3ComBridgePortAddressPortIndex
Performing a walk of this MIB may also affect the performance of the
Administration Console interface and other management functions.
There is no SNMP support for creating or deleting trunks.
To prevent timeouts of SNMP requests, 3Com recommends that you
increase the default timeout for the network management station.
If you use Netscape as your browser, you must install the Help files on
an external server, not on a local PC. For instructions on how to install
and configure Help for the Netscape browser, see the chapter
"Documentation Changes" later in these release notes. (29490)
