in the vacuum system using a suitable
sealant, such as Teflon tape or Vac-Seal.
If possible, leak test this connection
before making any vacuum
measurements. For high vacuum
systems consider using a gauge tube
with VCR, KF, or Conflat Flange
connection.

4.0 OPERATION

4.1

AVC MODULE

The Vacuum Gauge Tube is connected
to the MODEL 4/6 by means of the
cylindrical AVC module.
CAUTION: When disconnecting the
AVC module from a gauge tube, hold
the module firmly and pull straight back.
Do not pull by the cable.
4.2
TAKING A VACUUM
MEASUREMENT
4.2.1 With the MODEL 4/6 connected
to the AVC module, and the AVC
module plugged into the DV gauge tube,
turn the power ON.
4.2.2 The MODEL 4/6 will display the
pressure in the vacuum gauge tube.
Remember, the display will read "_or_"
if the pressure is above the measuring
range (20 torr for the DV-4 and 2 torr for
the DV-6), and it will read "_ur_" if the
pressure is below the measuring range
(0.10 torr for the DV-4 and 0.001 torr for
the DV-6).
4.3
RESOLUTION OF DIGITAL
METER
4.3.1 The resolution of the digital
meter varies with pressure. For the
148-0598 Rev. A
DV-4, 0.10 to 20 Torr range, the
resolution is:
Range
0.010 to 0.100 Torr
0.10 to 1.00 Torr
1.0
to 10.0 Torr
10
to 20
4.4.3 The resolution of the digital
meter varies with pressure. For the,
0.001 to 2 Torr range, the resolution is:
Range
0.001 to 0.100 Torr
0.10 to 0.40 Torr
0.40 to 1.00 Torr

5.0 CALIBRATION

There are three types of calibration that
can be performed on the MODEL 4/6.

Restore Factory Calibration

Custom Calibration
Reference Tube Calibration
5.1
RESTORE FACTORY
CALIBRATION
Factory calibration is based on the
average DV-4 and DV-6 calibration
curves, which are stored in the MODEL
4/6. To restore the Factory calibration:
In order to perform the Restore Factory
or Custom calibration you will have to
remove the front bezel and the front
panel. Locate the black push button in
the lower right hand corner.
5.1.1 With the AVC module plugged
into either a DV-4 or DV-6 gauge tube
and the tube at atmospheric pressure,
turn the MODEL 4/6 OFF.
5.1.2 Press and hold the push button
and turn the MODEL 4/6 ON. As soon
