Chapter 2. Installing options
This section provides basic information that is needed to install PCI or PCI-X adapt-
ers, symmetrical multiprocessor (SMP) Expansion Modules, microprocessors, and
DIMMs; properly cable your server; and prepare your server for installation into a rack
cabinet.
Opening the cover
Complete the following steps to open the server cover:

For proper cooling and airflow, close the cover before turning on the
server. Operating the server for extended periods of time (over 30 minutes) with
the cover open might damage server components.
