NOTE
• Testing with blood from alternate sites requires the AST cap. This is explained later in the chapter.
• The best depth setting is the lowest number that lets you get enough blood for a test. Try different
settings to find the one that is right for you.
• Never share your lancing device with anyone.
• Always use a new, sterile lancet for every test. Never reuse a lancet that has already been used.
• If the ACCU-CHEK Softclix Plus lancing device is dropped, the lancet may loosen in its holder and cannot
be used to obtain blood. In rare cases the lancet may even stick out slightly from the cap and could
cause injury. If you drop the lancing device, always pick it up with care. Remove the cap from the
44
lancing device, eject the lancet and dispose into a puncture-proof container. Afterwards, slide the cap
on without inserting a lancet. Press the plunger all the way down twice. Only then insert a lancet again.
• Only use ACCU-CHEK Softclix lancets. Use of other lancets with the ACCU-CHEK Softclix Plus lancing
device may prevent or impair proper function of the ACCU-CHEK Softclix Plus lancing device. This may
result in injury.
The black cap is for fingertip testing only.
The AST cap is for testing other approved sites on the body, not the fingertip.*
