Special maintenance
FOLLOWING OPERATIONS SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL TRAINED ON THE
Every 600 hours:
Valve clearance adjustment:
Warning
• Adjustments and controls must be carried out on cold engine.
- Remove the rocker-arm cover
- Turn the camshaft gear until the piston reaches the top dead
center during compression. Loosen the locking nuts on the
adjusting screws
- Insert a thickness gauge (0.15 mm) between the rocker-arm
pin and the bottom of the camshaft.
- Tighten the adjusting screws until the thickness gauge can
be pulled out easily.
- Tighten the locking nuts on the adjusting screws.
Every 1200 hours:
Setting and injectors cleaning:
Warning
• To clean and set the injectors, use a high pressure pump for
injector testing and the specific equipment provided.
- Disassemble the injector
- Connect it to the pressure-gauge equipped, high pressure
pump by means of the metal strip provided –
- Start the pump
- Check that spraying is correct and setting pressure is kg/
cm² 150 ±10.

Important
PRODUCT.
- If no spraying is carried out, unscrew the sprayer ring nut
and check that the sprayer nozzle is not dirty or burnished
due to excessive temperature. If spraying is carried out but
setting pressure is lower than indicated, increase thickness
of pressure setting shims. If pressure goes over the indicated
level, reduce shim thickness.
After 5000 hours:
1. Partial overhaul:
- Valve and seat grinding
- Pump injector overhaul
- Injection spark advance check
- Crankshaft end float check and camshaft wear check
2. Replacement of toothed and timing belt:
The toothed and timing belt has been designed and tested to
work for 5000 hours. For its manufacturing characteristics, the
belt must be replaced each time it is disassembled.
After 10000 hours:
Overhaul:
Total overhaul as above plus:
- Cylinder grinding/boring operations and piston replacement
- Grinding/boring operations or replacement of valve seats,
guides, valves, crankshaft, main bearing and connecting rod
bearing, if necessary.
