Adding and removing the MP160

Before you begin
The G450 main board has four slots for VoIP engines. You can install up to two MP160 (Media
Processor 160). An MP160 provides 160 channels for voice transport.
Note:
The G450 supports up to 320 active channels for voice transport. You can install up to two
MP160 modules, or a combination of Media Processor modules with a total of up to 320
channels for voice transport, for example, one MP160 and two MP80s.
See the table below for permitted combinations of Media Processor modules:

Important:
You can only install the MP160 in slots 2 and 4 on the G450 1.x or slots 1 and 2 on the G450
2.x. (see

You can also use the show system command in the command line interface to identify the
mainboard HW vintage (version).
Electrostatic alert:
Hold modules only by the edges to avoid damage from static electricity. Do not touch the
top or bottom of the circuit board. If possible, wear a wrist-strap and use an anti-static
bag.
