4.17 CARRIAGE (MX Series)
Refer to Figure 4-28.
Removal
1. Remove Upper Case (4.1).
2. Remove Printer Mechanism (4.7).
3. Disconnect CN6 from MDRI
4. Disconnect Carriage Cable from Terminal
Board.
5. Remove nut from right end of Front
Carriage Shaft.
6. Remove E-ring from right end of Front
Carriage Shaft.
7. MoveCarriage to right side of printer.
8. Loosen nut 0) on left end of front Carriage
Shaft.
9. Slide shaft out and to the left. Remove
shaft.
10.Loosen Ribbon DriveAssembly(2).
11.Remove the springs (3) at each end of the
Bail Assembly.
12.Remove nut and adjustina lever (4) from left
end of Rear CarriageShaft.
13. Remove E-ring and bushing (5) from left end
of Tractor Feed Shaft.
14.Remove the 2 screws (6) securing the Platen
to the left frame.
15. Remove screw (7) at the bottom center of
left frame.
16.Loosen nut (8) on the Top Tractor Feed
Shaft.
17.Slide left frame back and up.
IS.SIide left frame out to remove Rear Carriage
Shaft, Bail Assembly and Carriage.
REPAIRS/ADJUSTMENTS
I^^pl^^ement
1. Reassemble in reverse order.
2. Perform Print Head Adjustment (4.8.1).
3. Perform Timing Belt Tension Adjustment
(4.11.1).
