Installation and Setup

Power Cord

To install the power cord
• Insert the cord into the power connector on the rear of the machine. Secure the cord with the
metal clip. Plug the three-prong end into power source. Do not turn on the machine until the front
handlebars and display are installed.
To disconnect the power cord
• Unplug the cord from the power outlet. Relese the metal clip where the cord connects with the
machine and then pull out the cord.
For more information, see Power Switch in the Using Your Machine section of this manual.
NOTE: Make sure that the machine is off before plugging into power source. The rear power switch
should be in the 0, or off, position.

Carriage

You should have already set up the quilting frame. Refer to the frame manual for detailed instructions
about setting up the frame.
To install the carriage and machine on the frame
1. Place the carriage on the table rails, ensuring that the carriage encoder assembly will be toward the back
of the machine (the power cord side of the machine).
2. Place the machine on the carriage.
U CAUTION: The Platinum Q|165 is heavy. Never attempt to lift it alone. Always use two people when
lifting. Always lift from the throat of the machine, not from the handlebars or needle bar.
3. T he stitch regulation cable is usually already connected to the machine encoder. The connector in the
middle of the stitch regulation cable, plugs into the machine encoder. The two cables are secured with
clips on the machine which helps manage them.
4. The remaining length of cable with a connector on the very end plugs into the carriage encoder.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the keyed portion of the cable connector aligns with the keyed portion of
the encoder connector. Do not force.
IMPORTANT: If the machine is to be removed from the carriage, the cable must first be
disconnected from the carriage encoder assembly. The other two connectors on the cable should
remain in place. Failure to unplug the cable when removing the machine from the carriage could
result in damage to the cable, encoders, and carriage.
