SERVICE DIAGNOSIS

A properly adjusted Keating MIRACLEAN® Gas Griddle, with no load, will cycle "on" approximately every 2-1/2
to 3 minutes. Each cycle will last approximately three minutes, ensuring that the temperature setting is held
within a narrow band.
The burners, when on, will produce fl ames directed at the bottom of the griddle plate. The fl ames should be
about 25mm to 38mm below the bottom of the plate.
CAUTION - To avoid injury or equipment damage:
· When servicing equipment, use proper tools and supplies.
· Refer to Service Manual for instructions.
Every Keating MIRACLEAN® Gas Griddle has safety controls to ensure safe operation and guard against compo-
nent failure. Operation, removal and replacement of each control is explained in the SERVICE section, page 11.
The following diagnosis is only to be used as a guide to qualifi ed service personnel. Keating recommends that
you use a qualifi ed & licensed service company.
NOTE: To correctly and quickly diagnose the system, the chart below should be followed in sequential order.
TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
PROBLEM
Main Power On Light doesn't come on
Pilot won't light
Burners won't light
Temperature of griddle is erratic
Electrode continues to spark

PROBABLE CAUSE
a. No electricity to griddle.
b. Main Power On/Off switch light is
faulty.
a. Gas isn't turned on or air is in gas line.
b. Thermostat isn't on.
c. Thermostat is out of calibration or is
faulty.
d. Main Power On/Off switch is faulty.
e. Thermostat I/O switch is faulty.
f. Gas pressure too low.
g. Spark electrode(s) is faulty or
connections are loose.
h. Clogged pilot orifi ce.
i. Spark module(s) is faulty.
j. Gas valve is faulty.
k. Transformer is defective.
a. Thermostat out of calibration or faulty.
b. Thermostat bulb is improperly placed.
c. Exhaust problems or drafts in kitchen.
a. Low pilot fl ame height.
b. Spark module(s) is faulty.
SOLUTION
a. Plug griddle into approved working
outlet.
b. Replace main Power On/Off switch.
a. Turn manual gas valve on. If using
fl exible connector with quick
disconnect, make sure quick
disconnect is completely engaged.
b. Turn thermostat to desired
temperature.
c. Check calibration of thermostat (see
page 8) and replace if necessary (see
pages 10, 11)
d. Replace Main Power On/Off switch.
e. Replace I/O switch.
f. Adjust gas pressure.
g. Tighten connections. Replace
electrode(s) if faulty.
h. Turn griddle and manual gas valve off.
Clean orifi ce.
i. Replace spark module(s).
j. Replace gas valve.
k. Replace transformer.
a. Check calibration of thermostat (see
page 8) and replace if necessary (see
pages 11, 12).
b. Adjust bulb position (see page 11,
THERMOSTAT BULB POSITIONING.)
c. Contact your HVAC representative.
a. Adjust pilot fl ame height (see
page 13) FLAME ADJUSTMENT.
b. Replace spark module(s).
