With solar system: mount KFE filling connection
(accessory KFE BA) on the connection bracket of the
control and pump unit (EKSRPS4A).
● Connect the filling hose with non-return valve (1/2") to the
previously installed KFE cock.
● Fill the storage tank of the Daikin Altherma M ECH
water emerges at the connection (fig. 7-1, item 2) that was
connected as a safety overflow.
● Remove the filling hose with non-return valve (1/2").

7.4 Filling, topping up the heating system

DANGER!
During the filling process water may escape
from any leaking points that can cause an elec-
tric shock if it comes into contact with live parts.
● Before the filling process, de-energise the
Daikin Altherma M ECH
● After initial filling, check whether all electrical
parts and connecting points are dry before
switching on the power supply for the Daikin
Altherma M ECH

WARNING!
Polluted domestic water is hazardous to health.
● When filling the heating system, make sure
that heating water cannot flow back into the
domestic water pipe.
Observe the notes on the water connection and water
quality according to chap. 2.4 and 4.4.

7.4.1 Protecting the water circuit against freezing

Frost can damage the system. To prevent the hydraulic compo-
nents from freezing, the software is equipped with special frost
protection functions, that include the activation of pump, internal
heaters, and/or backup heater operation in case of low tempera-
tures.
However, in case of a power failure, these functions cannot guar-
antee protection. It is therefore recommended to add glycol to the
water circuit. The required concentration depends on the lowest
expected outdoor temperature, and on whether you want to pro-
tect the system from bursting or from freezing. To prevent the
system from freezing, more glycol is required. Add glycol accord-
ing to the table below.
● Protection against bursting: the glycol protects the
pipes against bursting, but does NOT protect the
fluid in the pipes against freezing.
● Protection against freezing: the glycol protects the
fluid in the pipes against freezing.
