6. Visual check of the water storage tank level (filling level
indicator)
Top up water if necessary (see chap. 7.3), and determine
and remedy the cause of the low water level.
Thanks to its design, the Daikin Altherma M ECH
requires very little maintenance. No corrosion pro-
tection equipment is required (such as expendable
anodes). This means there is no need for mainte-
nance work such as changing the protective anodes or
cleaning the inside of the storage tank.
7. Check the connection of the safety overflow and drain hose
as well as the cover drain for leaks, free drainage and
gradient.
If necessary, clean the safety overflow and drain hose and
relay it; replace damaged parts.
8. Visual check of connections, lines and safety pressure relief
valve. In the event of damage, determine the cause.
Replace defective parts.
9. Check all electrical components, connections, and cables.
Repair damaged parts or replace them.
If the connection cable of the optional backup
heater is damaged, the complete backup heater
must be replaced.
The connection cable cannot be exchanged sepa-
rately.
10. Check the water pressure of the cold water supply (<6 bar)
and if necessary the fitting or adjustment of the pressure
reducer.
11. Check the system water pressure on the RoCon mb controller
for the Daikin Altherma M ECH
If necessary, top up water in the heating system until the
pressure display is in the permissible range (see
chap. 7.4).
12. Check and clean the filter/sludge separator.
13. Check the minimum flow (see chap. 5.1.5).
14. Clean the plastic surface of the Daikin Altherma M ECH
with soft cloths and mild cleaning solution. Do not use
any cleaners with aggressive solvents (damage to the plastic
surface may occur).
15. Attach the cover again (see chap. 4.3).
16. Perform maintenance on the outdoor unit and other heating
components connected to the Daikin Altherma M ECH
according to the respective installation and operating
instructions.
17. Complete the proof of maintenance in the operating manual
enclosed with the Daikin Altherma M ECH

7.3 Filling, topping up the storage tank

CAUTION!
Filling the storage tank with a too high water
pressure or too high flow speed can cause
damage to the Daikin Altherma M ECH
● Only fill with a water pressure <6 bar and a
flow speed <15 l/min.
CAUTION!
UK only!
If filling or topping up the storage tank is done by
means of the boiler filling and drain valve, a
temporary filling loop must be used with the
appropriate backflow prevention device in
accordance with clause G24.2, Guidance to the
Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations
1999.
If the storage tank temperature falls below specific min-
imum values, the Daikin Altherma M ECH
settings prevent the heat pump from being operated at
low outside temperatures:
– Outside temperature < -2 °C, minimum storage tank
temperature = 30 °C
– Outside temperature < 12 °C, minimum storage tank
temperature = 23 °C.
Without backup heater:
The storage tank water must be heated to the required mini-
mum storage tank temperature with an external heater booster.
With backup heater (EKBUxx):
At an outside temperature of < 12 °C and a storage tank tem-
perature of < 35 °C, the backup heater (EKBUxx) is automati-
cally switched on to heat the storage tank water to at least
35 °C.
● To speed up the heating process with backup heater,
temporarily set
– parameter [Function Heating Rod] = "1" and
– parameter [Power DHW] to the maximum value of the
backup heater.
– Set the rotary switch to
the parameter [1x Hot Water] to "On". After heating, set
the parameter to "Off" again.
Without installed solar system
● Connect the filling hose with non-return valve (1/2") to the
"DrainBack solar feed" connection (see fig. 7-1, item 1).
● Fill the storage tank of the Daikin Altherma M ECH
water emerges at the connection (fig. 7-1, item 2) that was
connected as a safety overflow.
● Remove the filling hose with non-return valve (1/2").
