6.9 To clean or change the spark plug

WARNING: Hot engine oil can cause injury.
Make sure the engine is cool before you remove
spark plug.
Clean or replace the spark plugs every 100 hours of
operation.
1. Make sure that the engine is cool.
2. Remove the spark plug cap from the spark plug and
remove the spark plug.
3. Clean the electrodes. Use a wire brush to remove
carbon deposits.
4. Examine the spark plug for damage. Replace the
spark plug, if it is necessary.
5. Examine the spark plug gap. The gap must be 0.75
mm (0.030 in). To change the gap, bend the side
electrode with a spark plug tool.
6. Install the spark plug. Tighten the spark plugs to 22
Nm (2.2 kgf·m, 16 ft·lb).
7. Fit the spark plug cap.
