Checking and Replacing
the Chain Sprocket
: Disconnect plug from the power
supply.
: Remove the chain sprocket cover,
chain and guide bar.
: Engage the chain brake to lock the
chain sprocket.
Replace the chain sprocket:
a
– after using two Oilomatic chains or
earlier
– if the wear marks (a) on the sprocket
are deeper than approx. 0.5 mm
since this would reduce the life of
the chain. Check with reference
gauge (see "Special Accessories").
It is best to use two chains in
rotation with one sprocket.
STIHL recommends the use of original
STIHL sprockets to ensure correct
operation of the chain brake.

: Take out the screw (1).
: Remove the cup springs (2),
washers (3) and sprocket (4).
: Install the new chain sprocket in the
reverse sequence.
Always mount the chain sprocket
with a new screw (1).
