Download TMUX Software

PURPOSE
This procedure is used to download 1677 SONET Link TMUX operational software from an FTP
server to the system disk and upgrade the TMUX FPGA.
PREREQUISITES
All available equipment must be installed and powered on.
Straight-through DB-9 RS-232 cable is supplied with the system and must be available.
The customer must provide a previously defined FTP server IP addresses for both the system and
the gateway. An image of the software is copied to the FTP server and downloaded to the
1677 SONET Link for installation and configuration.
Each release software is supplied on CD-ROM. A CD-ROM device is required to copy the software
image from the CD-ROM to the FTP server. The software image must be copied to an accessible
directory on the FTP server before beginning this procedure.
Refer to DLP-104 for information for Load Generic Software. The location used during installation
of the 1677 operation software from a remote FTP server is required to download TMUX operational
software. DLP-104 must be completed before beginning this procedure.
GENERAL
For information on TL1 command syntax, refer to the 1677 SONET Link Commands and Messages
manual (PN 3EM13852AF).
FTP server is the preferred method of software installation, maintenance and backup for the
1677 SONET Link. Software and back-up information resides on the FTP server freeing disk space
as well as satisfying best practice of off-line back-up storage of software, file systems, and databases.
Use CKL-103 for this procedure.
STEP PROCEDURE
Download TRANSMUX Operational Software
1 CAUTION: Possibility of service interruption. Use this procedure only for initial turn-up of
system. Use this procedure only on a non traffic-carrying system. Never use this procedure
on a traffic-carrying system. When working with a traffic-carrying system, refer to the
1677 SONET Link Maintenance and Trouble Clearing manual (PN 3EM13853AF).
