The automatic ignition advan cer shou ld be so set
that the breaker po ints open with the p iston in the
above positi on. On the motorcyc le employing the
f lywheel ignition system, the ign ition t iming is set
by t he breaker point gap .
T herefore, when the mark on the flywheel mag-
net o aligns with the pointer on the magneto
backing plate, t he breaker poi nt gap should be
measured at
0.014'' (0.35
mm) with a feeler gauge.
With th is adjustment, the ign it ion will be t imed to
0.091 '' (2.3
mm)
