Listen for tones when handset keys are pressed.
Tones heard at speaker?
Yes – Defective PSE. END
No – Replace original PSE. Not a cellular phone related problem. Repair head unit or vehicle
wiring problem.
8.
Check connections of PSE 25 pin Y harness cable to make sure connectors are firmly
mated. Go to STEP 10.
9.
Listen for tones when handset keys are pressed.
Tones heard at speaker?
Yes – Poor connection caused problem. END
No – Replace the PSE 25 pin Y harness cable with a known good cable. Go to STEP 11.
10.
Listen for tones when handset keys are pressed.
Tones heard at speaker?
Yes – Defective Y harness. END
No – Replace the Y harness cable with the original. Go to STEP 12.
11.
Replace the PSE with a known good PSE. Listen for tones when handset keys are
pressed.
Tones heard at speaker? Yes
– Defective PSE. END
No – Re-install the original PSE in the vehicle. Go to STEP 13.
12.
Replace the coil cord with a known good coil cord. Listen for tones when handset keys
are pressed.
Tones heard at speaker?
Yes – Defective coil cord. END
No – Re-install the original coil cord in the vehicle. Go to STEP 14.
13.
Replace the phone with a known good phone. Listen for tones when handset keys are
pressed.
Tones heard at speaker?
Yes – Defective phone. END
No – Not a cellular phone related problem. Repair vehicle wiring. END
14.
Substitute a known good Y harness. Place a hands-free call (coil cord plugged in) with
handset in cradle.
Can both parties be heard?
Yes - Original Y harness faulty. END
