Removal and Replacement Procedures
CDROM Drive Removal and Replacement
These devices are fragile. Handle them with care and keep them away from strong magnetic fields.
Removing the CDROM Drive

Locate the device to be replaced.

Using torque tool PN 6422789, loosen two captive fasteners on the front of the device. Note that the
fasteners are on the upper left and lower right corners of the device.

Pull the device from the enclosure. Handle the device carefully.
Replacing the CDROM Drive

Replace by carefully sliding the device into slot until resistance is felt and plug to the backplane.

Tighten fasteners on the front of the device using torque tool PN 6422789.
Diskette Drive Removal and Replacement
The Diskette Drive is located alongside the EPO card in the right front of the frame. These devices are
fragile. Handle them with care and keep them away from strong magnetic fields.
Removing the Diskette Drive:
The Diskette Drive is located alongside the EPO card in the right
front of the frame.

Remove EPO bezel from the right front by loosening two M4 hex nuts and sliding bracket off. The
screws must only be slightly loosened and should not be removed.

Loosen the fasteners on the Diskette drive. IMPORTANT - These are the inner pair of fasteners.
The outer pair of fasteners release the EPO card.

Carefully pull the Diskette Drive assembly from the cage until the two cable connectors are visible.
Unplug these cables. Do not unplug this cable from the EPO card assembly.
Replacing the Diskette Drive

Plug the cable connector and slide the Diskette Drive into the cage. The disc activity LED is up when
the drive is oriented correctly.

Tighten fasteners.

Slide the EPO bezel onto the screws and tighten.
