Removal and Replacement Procedures
Extender Card (SSA Loop) Removal and Replacement
There are 2 (max) SSA Extender cards located in the I/O cage. Extender cards are located in row 0 on
the front of the cage directly over the HDAs. The minimum configuration contains 1 adapter card. These
cards are oriented horizontally in the cage.
Removing the Extender Card (SSA Loop)

Turn OFF the S/390 Integrated Server power and disconnect the power cord. Verify that power is
off. (See "Power Off Procedures" on page 142)

Open the front of the frame.

Locate the Extender Card to be replaced.

Disconnect cables from front of card. Label if necessary.
5
Loosen two captive fasteners on the front of the Extender Card.

Pull the Extender Card from the slot.
Replacing the Extender Card (SSA Loop)

Carefully slide the card into slot until resistance is felt and plug to the backplane.

Tighten fasteners on the front of the card.
3
Reconnect the link cables previously removed from the extender card.

Plug all power cords into the electrical outlets.
5
Run Diagnostics to Verify Installation.
