    1. SAFETY General Safety Notes. The operator of the machine is responsible for, and has a duty of care in making sure that the machine is operated safely and in accordance with the instructions in this user manual. Keep the manual safe and pass it on if the machine is loaned or sold to another user.

    Failure to stop the engine can cause serious personal injury. WARNING ALWAYS wear thick gloves when changing the blades on this machine. Assembly video available on the Hyundai Power Equipment YouTube channel. HANDLE ASSEMBLY Unscrew the 2 screws from the back of the handle mounting bracket using the torx wrench provided.
  • Page 12 Loosen the 4 screws on the top of the handle mounting bracket. DO NOT remove the screws completely. Slide the right hand handle into the middle of the handle mounting bracket at a 90° angle to the main shaft. Slide the left hand handle into the other side of the handle mounting bracket until it butts up against the right hand handle and adjust to a 90°...

    LOWER GUARD ASSEMBLY Locate the lower guard mounting bracket which is attached towards the bottom of the lower shaft, near the brush cutter/trimmer head. Insert the tab on the mounting bracket, into the slot on the guard. Place the screw through the hole on the mounting bracket into the hole on the lower guard and tighten using the torx wrench GRASS TRIMMER HEAD NOTE...
  • Page 14 LOADING LINE ON TO SPOOL CAUTION There is a spring inside the grass trimmer head. Take care when disassembling as to not lose the spring. NOTE This grass trimmer will hold approx. 4 meters of 2.5mm Nylon Trimming Line. 2.10 If you need to load grass trimmer line to the trimmer head, press down the two tabs on the grass trimmer head to release the outer ring.
  • Page 15 2.16 Leave 10cm of trimmer line loose. 2.17 Move the spool back to the main trimmer head and insert one end of the trimmer line through one of the eyelets on the trimmer head. 2.18 Insert the other end of the trimmer line through the other eyelet on the trimmer head. 2.19 Ensure the inner spool sits flush in the main trimmer body and reattach the outer ring.
  • Page 16 2.24 Remove the main shaft nut, bump washer and the domed washer. 2.25 Leave the splined drive flange in place. 2.26 Place the grass trimmer head and with the torx wrench still locking the shaft, tighten the grass trimmer head onto the shaft by hand. Remember the left hand thread.
  • Page 17 BRUSH CUTTER HEAD NOTE The grass trimmer/brush cutter uses a LEFT HANDED THREAD. To tighten turn anti-clockwise, to loosen turn clockwise. 2.31 Rotate the trimmer head until the hole in the splined drive flange lines up with the hole in the shaft head. 2.32 Insert the end of the torx wrench through the hole to lock the shaft in place and stop it rotating.
  • Page 18 2.36 Place the brush cutter blade so the writing on the blade faces up towards the splined drive flange. 2.37 Ensure the raised register on the drive flange fits into the hole in the brush cutter blade. 2.38 Place the domed washer on to the shaft so the flat surface of the washer sits directly on to the brush cutter blade.
  • Page 19 CONNECTING UPPER & LOWER SHAFTS 2.44 Remove the protective cover from the end of the lower shaft and align the upper and lower shaft. 2.45 Loosen the blue hand wheel and push in the silver ball locking mechanism on the lower shaft.
  • Page 20 HARNESS 2.48 Place your arms through the harness so that the belt clip is at the front and the large plastic leg protector and metal harness clip are against your right thigh. 2.49 Clip the harness at the front using the belt clip. 2.50 Attach the metal harness clip to the hook point on the trimmer shaft.

    5. FUEL & OIL WARNING This machine is shipped without oil and fuel. You MUST ensure all fluid levels are correct before operation otherwise you may cause serious engine damage that will not be covered by the warranty. WARNING ALWAYS use a semi-synthetic 4 stroke SAE 15W40 engine oil and straight unleaded petrol.
  • Page 22 FUEL WARNING Petrol and its vapours are highly flammable and explosive. To prevent serious personal injury and property damage, handle it with care. Keep away from ignition sources and open flames, handle outdoors only in a well ventilated area. DO NOT smoke and wipe up any spills immediately. ALWAYS shut off the engine and allow to cool BEFORE fueling.

    6. STARTING PROCEDURE WARNING This machine is shipped without oil and fuel. You MUST ensure all fluid levels are correct before operation otherwise you may cause serious engine damage that will not be covered by the warranty.     FROM WARM Place the machine on flat level ground before starting. Turn the ignition switch to the ‘I’ ON position. Ensure the primer bulb has fuel inside. 4.10 Pull the recoil starter handle until you feel resistance. Once you feel resistance, pull the recoil starter handle swiftly 3 to 5 times or until the engine starts.

    8. USING THE MACHINE CAUTION Engine housing can become hot during trimmer operation. DO NOT rest or place your arm, hand or any body part against the engine housing during trimmer operation. Extended contact with the engine housing can result in burns or other injuries. ALWAYS position the unit on the operator’s right side.
  • Page 26 6.10 NEVER over cut, instead cut short lengths then cut successively lower heights. 6.11 Trim around trees carefully, this will prevent damage to the tree and tree bark. 6.12 Move around the tree in a clockwise direction. Approach grass/weeds with the tip of the cutting blade.

    9. MAINTENANCE WARNING Before cleaning, inspecting or repairing your unit, you MUST make sure that the engine has stopped and allowed to cool. You MUST disconnect the spark plug HT lead cap to prevent any accidental starting. CAUTION ALWAYS refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and the spark plug HT cap removed.
  • Page 28 AIR FILTER CAUTION The engine MUST NOT be run without an air filter otherwise piston and/or cylinder damage can occur. This type of damage will NOT be covered under warranty. Maintaining the air filter is very important. If dirt is allowed to get in to the engine through improperly installed, serviced or inadequate filter elements, it can damage and wear out the engine.
  • Page 29 SPARK PLUG Carefully remove the spark plug HT lead cap. Remove the spark plug using the box spanner provided in an anti-clockwise direction. Check the spark plug for visible damage and electrode erosion. If damaged you MUST replace the spark plug. Remove carbon deposits from the spark plug using a soft wire brush.
  • Page 30 CAUTION ALWAYS use a semi-synthetic 4 stroke SAE 15W40 engine oil and straight unleaded petrol. DO NOT mix the fuel with the oil. You MUST check the engine oil level before each use. 7.12 To drain the engine oil, remove the oil filled cap and tilt the machine so the oil can drain out of the oil filler neck, into a suitable container.
  • Page 31 FUEL FILTER 7.18 Unscrew the fuel filler cap and drain all the fuel into a suitable and secure container. 7.19 Squeeze the end of the fuel filler cap tail to fully release the fuel filler cap. 7.20 Using a hook, gently hook the fuel line inside the fuel tank and slowly pull out the fuel filter.
