ROM Monitor Overview

Resetting to EXEC Mode or MBI Validation Mode

To exit the ROM Monitor mode and reset to EXEC mode, enter the confreg command at the ROM Monitor
mode prompt. Respond to prompts as instructed.

Exiting ROM Monitor Mode: Examples

The following example shows how to enable ROM Monitor mode at the next system boot:
rommon B5 >
(Virtual Configuration Register: 0x1920)
enabled are:
console baud: 9600
boot: the ROM Monitor
do you wish to change the configuration? y/n
enable
change console baud rate? y/n
change the boot characteristics? y/n
enter boot type:
0 = ROM Monitor
2 = MBI Validation Boot Mode
(Virtual Configuration Register: 0x1920)
enabled are:
console baud: 9600
boot: the ROM Monitor
do you wish to change the configuration? y/n
You must reset or power cycle for new config to take effect

The following example shows how to enter the minimum boot image (MBI) validation mode or the EXEC
mode of Cisco IOS XR software at the next system boot:
