Recording and Playing Back with a Digital Video
Recorder (DVR)
You can use a DVR to record a patient study on media for later playback. When you start and
then stop a recording session, the DVR creates a title. Each time you pause and then resume
recording during a session, the DVR creates a chapter. A title can consist of multiple chapters.
The DVR assigns a title using the patient's last name and the exam type.
The controls for the DVR recording and playback are located on the ultrasound system control
panel and screen. The ultrasound system also displays DVR status messages on the image
menu and in the list of imaging parameters.
Note: The DVR supports only BD-R and BD-RE disk media. Siemens has qualified media only from
Panasonic and TDK.
To record a patient study:
Prerequisite: Power on the DVR before powering on the ultrasound system. Otherwise, the
ultrasound system cannot detect the DVR.
1.
Ensure formatted media is inserted in the DVR.
Note: Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for information about formatting new media.

Begin recording.
Select Record/Pause.
For systems without a touch screen, press DVR (F12) on the ultrasound system
keyboard.
The ultrasound system displays the video recording selections on the menu.

To pause or resume recording:
Select Pause or Record.
For systems without a touch screen, press DVR (F12).
4.
To stop recording:
Select Stop Recording.
For systems without a touch screen, click End Exam.
5.
To finalize the recording:
Select Finalize Disk.
For systems without a touch screen, click Finalize.
6.
To eject the media from the DVR, select Eject.
