Configuring Layer 3 over vPC
Before you begin
Cisco NX-OS supports configuring vPC peer devices to act as the gateway for packets that are destined to
the vPC peer device's MAC address. When you attach a Layer 3 device to a vPC domain, the peering of routing
protocols using a VLAN carried out on the vPC peer-link is supported with the following requirements:
• Ensure that you have enabled the vPC feature.
• Ensure that you are in the correct VDC (or use the switchto vdc command).
• Ensure that you enable peer-gateway and peer-routing on Layer 3 over vPC on both the peers.
• Ensure that the peer link is up
If routing protocol adjacencies are needed between vPC peer devices and a generic Layer 3 device, you must
use physical routed interfaces for the interconnection. Use of the vPC peer-gateway feature does not change
this requirement.
