Charging the Probe Battery

Successful wireless probe scanning without interruption requires a properly charged battery
pack. To charge the probe batteries, use the on-board two-port charging bays built into the
back of the console.
For optimal charging in the console charging ports, the console should be plugged into AC
Mains power outlet. If the system is unplugged from the AC mains power outlet, the probe
batteries will recharge from the batteries inside the console, provided that those batteries have
sufficient charge to do so. If the console internal batteries are depleted, and the console is
unplugged, the probe batteries will not recharge.
To charge the probe battery, follow these steps:
1.
Remove the probe battery from the probe by placing a finger at the back of the pack in
the indentation and applying forward and outward pressure on the latch. As the battery
releases from its compartment, be sure to prevent it from falling to the floor.
2.
Place the battery into one of the console's charging bays with the metal contacts facing
inwards. To be sure that the pack is properly engaged, confirm that the light next to the
bay is lit, but not flashing.
NOTE: The probe's battery pack is "keyed" to prevent improper insertion.
CAUTION: The battery pack is keyed to fit into the charging bay in the proper orientation.
Do not use excessive force in inserting the pack into the charging bay. Make sure that you
have lined it up properly when inserting.
3.
Confirm the status of the probe batteries in the charging bays by checking the Battery
page in the
Menu. Even if the console has enough battery charge to charge the
SETUP
probe batteries, if the console battery charge is low, you should plug it into an AC Mains
power outlet.

Checking the Status of Charging Batteries

Charging status can be checked in two places: the charging bay and the console screen.
When the probe batteries are properly placed in the charging bay, a small light next to each
bay will light to show the status of that battery.
■ A green light means the battery is fully charged.
■ A steady amber light means the battery is charging.
When probe batteries are being charged in the console charging bays and the system is on,
their charging status is displayed at the top of the system screen directly under the probe
battery.
Five dashed lines represent the charge status, with the bright dashes representing the battery
charge level. For example, four bright dashes and one dim dash mean the battery is at least
80% charged. Charge status is also displayed in the
7-4
/
page.
