Do not insert or remove the CF card when the router is booting or the LED is blinking to avoid
hardware damage.
To protect the removed CF card, place it in an antistatic bag.

Installing and Removing a Memory Module

The MPUs and FIPs are equipped with memory modules. Before installing or removing a
memory module, remove the MPU or FIP from the chassis first. For details about how to remove
an MPU or FIP, refer to preceding sections.

When to Replace a Memory Module

Memory modules are removable components on the main board.
Generally, you need to replace a memory module in the following situations:
More memory is needed to upgrade the application program.
The router needs to maintain a large routing table or support other highly memory consuming
operations.
An existing memory module is damaged.
Use the memory modules provided by provided by HP only. The device may be incompatible
with other memory modules.
For specific specifications of memory modules supported by the device, refer to "Memory
module" in Chapter 1 "Router Overview."
Figure 4-65
shows the steps to replace a memory module.
