This section describes how to connect to the FortiMail-5001A web-based manager and its
CLI console to configure the FortiMail system.
Before using this chapter, your FortiGate-5000 series chassis should be mounted and
connected to your power system. In addition, your FortiMail-5001A board should be
inserted into the chassis and additional hardware components (such as AMC cards)
should be installed. The FortiMail-5001A boards should also be powered up and the front
panel LEDs should indicate that the boards are functioning normally.

Register your Fortinet product to receive Fortinet customer services such as product
updates and technical support. You must also register your product for FortiGuard
services such as FortiGuard Antivirus and Intrusion Prevention updates and for
FortiGuard Web Filtering and AntiSpam.

To register, enter your contact information and the serial numbers of the Fortinet products
that you or your organization have purchased. You can register multiple Fortinet products
in a single session without re-entering your contact information.
You can use either the web-based manager or the Command Line Interface (CLI) to
configure the FortiMail-5001A board.
The FortiMail-5001A web-based manager is an easy to use management tool. Use the
web-based manager to configure the FortiMail-5001A administrator password, the
interface addresses, the default gateway, and the DNS server addresses.
Requirements:
An Ethernet connection between the FortiMail-5001A board and management
computer.
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher on the management computer.
The CLI is a full-featured management tool. Use it to configure the administrator
password, the interface addresses, the default gateway, and the DNS server addresses.
