Keyboard/Numeric Keypad Solutions
Some causes and solutions for keyboard/numeric keypad problems are listed in the
following table.
Problem
Embedded numeric
keypad on Notebook
keyboard is disabled.

Memory Solutions
Some causes and solutions for memory problems are listed in the following table.
Problem
Memory count during
Power-On Self-Test
(POST) is incorrect.
"Out of Memory"
message is displayed
on the screen or
insufficient memory
error occurs during
operation.

Probable Cause
Num Lock function is not
enabled.
External numeric keypad is
connected to the Notebook.
Memory
Probable Cause
Optional memory expansion
card is installed incorrectly, is
incompatible with the
Notebook, or is defective.
System ran out of memory for
the application.
Too many TSR
(terminate-and-stay-resident)
applications are running.
Solution(s)
Press the Shift+NumLk keys to
enable the Num Lock function and
embedded numeric keypad

(Num Lock light is on).
Disconnect the external numeric
keypad from the Notebook.
Solution(s)
Ensure that the optional memory
expansion card is installed
correctly, and then restart the
Notebook.
Check the application
documentation for memory
requirements.
If necessary, install additional
memory.
Remove from memory any TSR
applications you do not need.
