THE DELUXE RADIO-A new transistorized
receiver
is used for
the first time in the 1957 Pontiac. The left hand knob turns the
set
off and on and controls the volume. The flat spacer behind the knob
changes the tone from base to treble when moved in a clockwise
motion. The right hand
knob,
when rotated either clockwise or counter-
clockwise, manually
selects
the radio
station,
The push buttons can be
adjusted
to
select
five different
stations
in
the following manner.
\. Turn the radio
on and
let
it play
for
ten to
fifteen
minutes to
allow
all
metal
parts
to expand to
opera
ting temperature.
2. Select the push button to be
adjusted and
pull it to the right
and
out as
far as
it
will
go.

in
the desired
station
using the manual tuning knob. Tune it
back
a
nd forth
through the station until the
point of
clearest
reception is
found.

adjusted all
the way in
and
release. The
push
button
should
now
be
set
up.
5.

several
times.
If the station
can
be tuned more clearly
with
the manual tuning knob
than with
the
push button,
the
above procedure
should
be repeated until the
push
button
tunes
the
station as accurately as
manual
tuning.
The Deluxe Radio, using
a
power transistor at the
audio
output stage, no
longer
requires
a
vibrator,
power
transformer
or
rectifier.
By
eliminating the
vibrator,
the
mechanical hum which
accompanied it
is no longer present.
THE ELECTRAMA'TIC WONDER-
BAR
RADIO - This radio is equip-
ped with a "selector bar"
and
five
push buttons to give
you
automatic
tuning of
any
available station
in
any
locality by touching either the bar or
any of the five pre-set stations.
The three position "sensitivity" con-
trol, located behind the manual tuning
knob controls signal
strength.
When control is in position farthest to
the left, only the
strongest stations
are
selected.
Turning the control
one notch to the
right
permits
selection of
more
stations.
With the
control rotated to
extreme right
position the radio will
select any
