Unmount and Remove the SD Card

Follow these instructions to unmount and remove an SD card. Always unmount an SD card before
removing it from your phone, and always power the phone off before inserting or removing an SD card.
1. Tap

2. Tap Storage.
3. If the SD card appears under Removable storage, tap
Eject.

If your SD card appears under Internal storage, tap the card name, and then tap > Eject.
Important: If the SD card is used as internal storage and there are apps that were moved to the card, you
will not be able to open these apps after unmounting the card.
4. Power the phone off.
5. Hold the phone face down.
6. Fully insert the tray eject pin (included in the box) into the small hole next to the microSD card
tray slot until the tray ejects.
7. Gently pull the SD card out of the slot.
8. Replace the SD card and tray.
9. Press the tray cover firmly to make sure that there are no gaps or that the tray is not protruding.

Format SD Card

When you want to change the storage setting of the SD card from removable storage to internal storage,
you will be prompted to format it first.
Note: When you format or erase the SD card, the files CANNOT be retrieved. To help prevent the loss of
important data, please check the contents before you erase the card.
Important: Formatting or erasing the SD card may not permanently erase all data from the card, including
personal information.

3. Do one of the following:
If the SD card appears under Removable storage, tap
then tap Format as internal > Erase & format > Format. After format is completed, you can
choose to move photos, files, and apps to the SD card.
