device presented on a StoreOnce Fibre Channel port currently uses the WWPN / WWNN of the FC card.
StoreOnce generated WWPNs / WWNNs are not used. Replacing the FC card will result in a new Catalyst
over Fibre Channel WWPN / WWNN. After replacing a FC card the StoreOnce user will need to re-zone
their clients with the new WWPN / WWNN. The replaced port will not be seen by clients until this re-zoning
is performed.
Removing and replacing a Fibre Channel or 10 GbE optical
SFP
The SFP is on the rear of the server and serves as the port for connecting to the FC SAN or 10GbE network.
Make sure that you have the correct SFP for the connection type.
WARNING:
When the system is on, do not stare at the optical transceivers. Doing so could damage your eyes.
Procedure
1. Disconnect the FC or 10GbE cable and lift the retaining clip so that you can slide the SFP carefully out of
the enclosure.
2. Remove the replacement SFP module from its protective packaging.
CAUTION:
When handling the SFP, do not touch the gold contact leads to prevent damage.
3. Carefully slide the replacement SFP into the enclosure until fully seated, close the retaining clip to secure it
in place.
NOTE:
Make sure that you use the correct SFP module—for a 10 GbE network port, an 8 Gb FC, or a 16 Gb
FC port, as appropriate.
4. Place the failed SFP into the packaging for return to HPE.
5. Reconnect the FC or 10GbE network cable to the SFP and verify that the link status LED is correct.
