Procedure
To remove an SMP expansion connector, complete the following steps:
1. Press the blue release button to release the handle and disengage the SMP
expansion connector from the compute node.
2. Grip the handle and pull the SMP expansion connector from the compute node.
Note: Make sure that the handle is in the open position before disconnecting
the connector from the compute node.
What to do next
If you are instructed to return the SMP expansion connector, follow all packaging
instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.
See "Working with scalable partitions" on page 22 for information about
configuring, modifying, and deleting scalable partitions.
Important: With the SMP expansion connector removed, each compute node must
be configured for standalone operation.

Installing an SMP expansion connector

Use this information to install an SMP expansion connector.
Before you begin
Before you install an SMP expansion connector, complete the following steps:
1. Read "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 699.
2. If the compute node is operating, shut down the operating system.
3. Press the power button to turn off the compute node (see "Turning off the
compute node" on page 16 for more information).
Notes:
v If you purchased a multi-node complex and you received each compute node
packaged individually, each compute node has a label on the top of the bezel
identifying the primary node and the secondary nodes as defined at the factory
during testing. Install the nodes in the chassis in the order indicated on the label
with the lowest number on the bottom and the highest number on top.
