Adjusting theSeat
Toadjustthe positionofthe seat,rotatethe seatforwardandlocatethe two
adjustment k nobson the front ofthe seatpan.Referto Figure 8.

Rotate the clampknobs to theleft andremove them,slidetheseatforwardor
backward andre-insert t he clampknobsintooneof thefouravailable positions o n
theseatpanandintothe seat,thentightensecurely. Make surethe seatislocked into
positionbefore operating thetractor.See Figure 8
Gasand Oil
Adding Fuel
Useextreme carewhen handlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammable andthe vaporsareexplosive.Neverfuel the riding mower
indoors or while the engine ishotor running. Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,
pipesandother sourcesof ignition.
1. Besureengineis outdoors andinawell-ventilated area.
2. Clean areaaroundthe fuelfill capandremove the fuel fill cap.
3. Using anapproved redGASOLINE container, a ddfuel slowly,beingcareful t o
avoidspilling.
4. Fillthe tank untilthe fuel reaches t he bottomofthe fuel tank neck.
Replace t he fuelcapandtightensecurely. W ipeupspilledfuel before
startingengine.Iffuel isspilledDONOT startengine.Moveridingmower
awayfrom areaof spillage. A voidcreatinganysource of ignitionuntil fuel
vapors aregone.
Checkingand Adding Oil
Yourridingmowerisshippedwith oii inthe engine.However, youMUST check
the oil levelbefore operating. C heck andaddtheoil asinstructed inyourEngine
Operator's M anual.
Fuel Recommendations
Use automotivegasoline (unleaded or low leadedto minimizecombustion chamber
deposits) w itha minimumof87 octane. G asoline with up to 10%ethanolor 15%
MTBE (Methyl T ertiaryButylEther) canbeused. N everuseanoil/gasoline mixture
or dirty gasoline. A voidgettingdirt, dust,or waterinthe fuel tank.DO NOT useE85
gasoline.
Refuel i n awell-ventilated areawith theenginestopped. D onot smokeor
allowflamesor sparksintheareawherethe engineisrefueled or where
gasoline isstored.
Donot overfillthe fuel tank.After refueling, m akesurethe tank capisclosed
properlyandsecurely.
Becareful n ot tospillfuelwhenrefueling. S pilled fuelor fuelvapormayignite.
Ifanyfuel isspilled, m akesuretheareaisdry before startingthe engine.
Avoidrepeated or prolongedcontact w ith skinor breathingof vapor.
