Setting the Cutting Height
1, Selectthe heightpositionof the cuttingdeck by
placingthe deck rift leverin any of the six different
cuttingheightnotcheson the rightside of the fender,
2, Adjustthe deck wheels,if equipped,so that they are
between1A-inch a nd 1/2-inch abovethe groundwhen
the tractoris on a smooth,flat surfacesuch as a
driveway,
WARNING: Keep hands and feet
away from the discharge open°
ing of the cutting deck.
NOTE:On modelsso equipped,the deckwheelsare an
anti:scalpfeatureof thedeck and are notdesignedto
supportthe weightof the cuttingdeck,

Do not operate the

ifyou strike a foreign
object, stop the
engine, disconnect
the spark plug wire(s)
and ground against
the engine. Thoroughly
inspect the machine
for any damage. Repair
the damage before
restarting and operat-
ing.
NOTE:Referto the TRACTORSET-UPon page8 of
this manualfor Gasolineand Oil fill-upinstructions,
1, insert the tractorkeyinto the ignitionswitch,
2, Placethe PTO(BladeEngage)leverin the disen-
gaged(OFF) position,
3, Engagethetractor'sparkingbrake,
4, Activatethe chokecontrol
5, Turnthe ignitionkeyclockwiseto the STARTposi-
tion, Afterthe enginestarts, releasethe key,it will
returnto theON position,
iMPORTANT: D o NOT holdthe key in the START
positionfor longerthanten secondsat a time, Doingso
maycause damageto yourengine'selectricstarter,
6, After theenginestarts, deactivatethechoke control
and placethe throttlecontrolin theFASTposition,
NOTE:Do NOTleavethe chokecontrolon while operat-
ing the tractor,Doingso will result in a "rich" fuelmixture
and causethe engineto run poorly,
WARNING: if you strike a foreign
object, stop the engine, discon-

1, If the bladesare engaged,placethe PTO(Blade
Engage)leverin the disengaged(OFF) position,
