Assembly of the damper (prior to installation)
• Remove the flue connecting pipe if it has already been
connected.
• Unscrew the screw (A) which is on the door frame at
the top in the middle. (The nut is situated at the back).
• Hook the regulating bar (B) on the damper (C) from the
left. Put it down into the smoke pipe opening through
the hole in the door frame. Lower the damper so that
the cams fall down into the harbours (D) on the smoke
outlet. The damper is put into place with its curved part
facing backwards.
(Note! Included in the damper package is one control
bar for Jøtul I 80 Classic and one for Harmony/
Panorama). The bar for Classic can be identified by a
bend in the middle - in section E.
• Screw the knob on the regulating bar.

chamber and baffle plate must be removed. (See

Assembly kit for cassette -

cat. no. 340956
Assembly as a cassette in brick fireplaces
The kit consists of a top grid, 2 bottom grids (one bottom
grid is suitable for the Jøtul I 80 Mini/Maxi - Classic and
Harmony and one is suitable for the Jøtul I 80 Mini/ Maxi -
Panorama), short legs, screws etc. The insert can be used
as a cassette in brick, open fireplaces with minimum
measurements as given in fig. 15. Fig. 16 shows the insert's
main measurements with the equipment ready assembled.
NB! The hearth must be cleaned thoroughly before
commencing assembly. If old remnants of soot and tar are
not removed, an unpleasant odour may develop in the room.
Your dealer should be able to recommend suitable cleaning
fluids.
Assembly prior to installation (fig. 17)
1. Attaching the legs and the screen plate .
2. Remove the heat shield at the combustion chamber.
3. Attach the 3 legs (A) using the screws with washers
which are screwed onto the underside of the
combustion chamber.
4. The adjusting screws (B) M10x45mm are screwed onto
the legs. These screws are taken from the leg extenders
which are contained in the insert box. The screw heads
should be facing downwards so that they can fit into
the grooves in the base plate (C) which is also contained
in the insert box. The base plates may be left out if
there is not enough room for them.
NB! If there is a tight fit and there is insufficient room in
the hearth, points 2-3 may have to be carried out after the
insert has been installed.

Connection to the chimney

(fig. 9 and 18)
• If there is plenty of room in the hearth and the chimney
goes down behind or at the side of the fireplace, the
damper must be removed and the insert can then be
installed as described in fig. 9.
• If the chimney goes from the top of the hearth, the
assembly can be carried out as shown in fig. 18-A and B.
• By using 2.3 mm enamelled steel flues (Ø150mm
internally in the smoke outlet and Ø175mm externally
in the smoke outlet), these can, with the aid of the
necessary bends, be led up into the chimney (fig. 18 - A).
It is recommended, if possible, that there is more
ventilation than the openings which the top and bottom
grids give. This can be achieved by fitting extra
ventilators in the base and hood. (See fig. 18- A).

Flexible smoke pipe

• If there is very little room in the hearth, and you do not
want to knock down parts of the brickwork in order to
make room for the flue's connection, you could use
flexible flue Ø161mm (fig. 18-B) (catalogue no: 340798
with a funnel; or catalogue no: 340804 without a funnel).
• Quality of material: acid resistant, stainless steel AISI
316, or similar.
• The flue should be washed clean with some red spirit,
or something similar, before use.
• In addition, the insert's smoke outlet must be exchanged
for a central displacer Ø 160mm, catalogue no.:
10284918. The damper can then be fitted.
The top and bottom grids (fig. 19)
• Bottom grid: The bottom grid (A) should be placed under
the front frame. The adjusting screws on the legs should
be adjusted so that the bottom grid fits.
• Top grid: Place one cage nut (B) on each side of the top
of the insert. Fasten the nuts loosely with a nut M6 and
