Test or Replace the Hydraulic Oil

Replacement or testing of the hydraulic oil is
essential for good machine performance and
service life. Dirty oil and suction strainers may
cause the machine to perform poorly and
continued use may cause component damage.
Extremely dirty conditions may require oil changes
to be performed more often.
Before replacing the hydraulic oil,
the oil may be tested by an oil
distributor for specific levels of
contamination to verify that
changing the oil is necessary. If
the hydraulic oil is not replaced
at the two year inspection, test
the oil quarterly. Replace the oil
when it fails the test.
When removing a hose assembly
or fitting, the O-ring on the fitting
and/or hose end must be replaced
and then torqued to specification
during installation. Refer to
Section 2, Hydraulic Hose and
Fitting Torque Specifications.
Perform this procedure with the
machine in the stowed position.
1 Disconnect the battery pack from the machine.
Electrocution hazard. Contact
with hot or live circuits could
result in death or serious injury.
Remove all rings, watches and
other jewelry.

2 Remove the drain plug from the hydraulic tank
and completely drain the tank into a suitable
container. Refer to Section 2, Specifications, for
capacity information.
3 Tag and disconnect the hydraulic return line
from the filter head to tank.
4 Tag and disconnect the hydraulic inlet line to
the filter head. Cap the fitting on the line.
5 Remove the filter head from the machine.
6 Tag and disconnect the hydraulic line from the
tank to the pump. Cap the fitting on the pump.
7 Remove the hydraulic tank mounting fasteners.
Remove the hydraulic tank from the machine.
8 Clean the inside of the hydraulic tank using a
