9. Troubleshooting

Print Quality Problems

If there is a problem with the quality of printing, first check the condition of the machine.
Problems
The machine is not properly
placed.
Unsupported paper types have
been used.
Incorrect paper type settings.
Non-genuine toner cartridge has
been used.
Old toner cartridge has been
used.
Machine needs to be cleaned.

Make sure that the machine is on a level surface. Place the machine
where it will not be subject to vibration or shock.
Make sure that the paper being used is supported by the machine.
See "3. Print Media" for the supported paper types.
Make sure that the paper type setting of the printer driver matches the
type of paper loaded. See "Supported Paper".
Non-genuine toner cartridge has been used. The non-genuine toner
cartridge may reduce the print quality and even cause malfunctions.
Use genuine toner cartridges.
Toner cartridges should be opened before their expiration date and
used within six months of being opened.
See "Cleaning the Printer" in "8. Machine Maintenance". Clean the
machine as required.
