Have the fault rectified as
quickly as possible by a
specialist workshop, preferably
an authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer.
Severe fault in the engine

General warning light shows
yellow.
Engine symbol flashes.
WARNING
Engine damage when run-
ning in emergency-operation
mode.
Risk of accident
Adapt your style of riding ac-
cordingly: Ride slowly, avoid
sharp accelerating and overtak-
ing.
If possible, have the vehicle
brought in and the fault
rectified by a specialist
workshop, preferably an
authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer.
Possible cause:
The engine control unit has dia-
gnosed a fault which may cause
severe secondary faults (e.g.
overheating). The engine is in
emergency-operation mode.
Avoid high load and rpm
ranges if possible.
It is not advisable to continue
riding.
The malfunction indicator lamp
lights up as well if pollutant
emissions exceed the threshold
values.
Have the fault rectified as
quickly as possible by a

an authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer.
ABS self-diagnosis not
completed
ABS warning light flashes.
Possible cause:
Self-diagnosis did not complete,
so the ABS function is not avail-
able. The Maxi­Scooter must
be ridden at a speed of at least
5 km/h in order for ABS self-dia-
gnosis to complete.
Pull away slowly. Bear in mind
that the ABS function is not
available until self-diagnosis has
completed.

ABS fault

ABS warning light shows.
Possible cause:
The ABS control unit has detec-
ted a fault. The ABS function is
not available.
