    BEFORE YOU BEGIN Congratulations for selecting the new NordicTrack SL 800 exercise cycle. Cycling is one of the most effective exercises for increasing cardiovascular fit- ness, building endurance, and toning the entire body. The NordicTrack ® SL 800 offers an impressive array of features designed to let you enjoy this healthful exercise in the comfort and privacy of your home.

    ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the exercise cycle in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Assembly requires the included tools and your own adjustable spanner Use the drawings below to identify the small parts used in assembly.
  • Page 6 2. Whilst another person lifts the rear of the Frame (1), attach the Rear Stabiliser (16) to the Frame with four M8 x 40mm Button Screws (54) and four M8 Split Washers (55). 3. Whilst another person holds the Upright (2) in the posi- tion shown, connect the Upper Wire Harness (42) to the Lower Wire Harness (43).
  • Page 7 5. Have another person hold the Console (4) near the Handlebar (3). Connect the Upper Wire Harness (42) to the wire har- ness on the Console (4). Locate the two ground wires that are connected with a screw to the Handlebar (3). Connect the two ground wires to the two smallest wires on the Console.
  • Page 8 8. Identify the Left Pedal (22), which is marked with an “L.” Using an adjustable spanner, firmly tighten the Left Pedal counterclockwise into the Left Crank Arm (24). Tighten the Right Pedal (not shown) clockwise into the Right Crank Arm. Important: Tighten both Pedals as firmly as possible.

    HOW TO USE THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR HOW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR The chest pulse sensor consists of two components: the chest strap and the sensor unit. Follow the steps below to put on the chest pulse sensor. Chest Strap Sensor Unit See the inset drawing above.

    HOW TO OPERATE THE EXERCISE CYCLE HOW TO MOVE AND LEVEL THE EXERCISE CYCLE Stand in front of the exercise cycle, hold the handle- bars firmly, and place your foot against one of the wheels. Tip the exercise cycle until it can be moved on the wheels.
  • Page 12 CONSOLE DIAGRAM Note: If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console, remove it before using the console. FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The advanced console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more enjoyable and effective.
  • Page 13 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Begin pedaling to activate the console. The exercise cycle requires no batteries or external power source. Power is supplied by a generator as you pedal. To activate the con- sole, begin pedaling at a speed of about 3 miles per hour or faster.
  • Page 14 Note: The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilo- metres. To find which unit of mea- surement is select- ed, you must select the console’s user mode. Hold down the Program Select button for about three seconds.

  • Page 17 If you have selected heart rate program 2, the letters “PLS” and the current target heart rate setting will flash in the left display. Press the + or – button repeated- ly to change the target heart rate setting, if desired.
  • Page 18 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR CD PLAYER, VCR, OR COMPUTER To use iFIT.com CDs, the exercise cycle must be con- nected to your portable CD player, portable stereo, home stereo, or computer with CD player. See pages 18 and 19 for connecting instructions. To use iFIT.com video- cassettes, the exercise cycle must be connected to your VCR.

    MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the exercise cycle regularly. To clean the exercise cycle, use a soft, damp cloth. To prevent damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the con- sole out of direct sunlight.

This is espe- cially important for individuals over the age of 35 or individuals with pre-existing health problems. • The pulse sensors are not medical devices. Various factors, including the user's move- ment, may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings.
