    In addition, when connected to an external device, the recorder can encode incoming analog audio signals without a PC (☞ P.46). s Supports high capacity recording media. Besides the 8GB (DM-4) or 4GB (DM-2) built-in memory, you can also record onto a commercially- available microSD card (☞ P.31). You can playback WAV, WMA, and MP3 format files transferred from a computer in addition to files recorded by the device itself. You can enjoy music at any time.

    Partially erase a file Only a PCM file recorded in the recorder can be partially erased. This operation can be performed when the [Erase] function has been assigned to a Fn button (F1 or F) (☞ P.77). 1 Play the file you want to partial erase. • Forward a file to the position that shall be erased. If the file is long, use the 9 button to move to the position you want to delete.

    G Rec Menu Mic Sense Microphone sensitivity is adjustable to meet recording needs. 1 Select [Mic Sense] from the menu on the [Rec Menu]. 2 Select [High], [Middle] or [Low]. [High]: Highest recording sensitivity suitable for conferences with large crowds and recording audio at a distance or low volume. [Middle]: Suitable for recording meetings and seminars with a small number of people.
  • Page 69 Adjust the recording level: 1 Press the 9 or 0 button while the recorder is recording or paused to adjust the recording level. • The recording level will be automatically adjusted when the recording level is set to [Auto]. Set the recording level to [Manual] to use the recording level adjustment feature. • When the unit is set to [Manual], the limiter function will be disabled.
  • Page 70 Low Cut Filter The recorder has a Low Cut Filter function to minimize low-frequency sounds and record voices more clearly. This function can reduce noise from air conditioners, projectors and other similar noises. 1 Select [Low Cut Filter] from the menu on the [Rec Menu]. 2 Select [On] or [Off]. [On]: Enables the Low Cut Filter function.
  • Page 71 • The start/stop actuation level also varies depending on the selected microphone sensitivity mode (☞ P.68). • If the starting level is not adjusted within 2 seconds, the display will return to the previous. • To ensure successful recordings, prior testing and adjustment of the start/stop actuation level is recommended.

    G Play Menu Noise Cancel If recorded audio is difficult to understand because of noisy surroundings, adjust the Noise Cancel setting level. 1 Select [Noise Cancel] from the menu on the [Play Menu]. 2 Select [High], [Low] or [Off]. [High] [Low]: Enables the Noise Cancel function. Noise will be reduced in the file when it’s played back for better sound quality.
