Tank Vent
Correct operation of the carburetor
is only possible if atmospheric
pressure and internal fuel tank
pressure are equal at all times. This
is ensured by the tank vent.
If problems occur on the carburetor
or the fuel supply system, also
check and clean the tank vent.
Check function by performing
pressure and vacuum tests on the
tank via the fuel hose.
– Remove the carburetor box cover
– b 11.1.
: Take the tank vent valve (1) out of
the retainer (3) and pull off the
hose (2).
: Connect vacuum pump
0000 850 3501 (1) to tank vent
(2) with hose.
– Use vacuum pump to subject
vent valve to vacuum.
Equalization of pressure in the fuel
tank takes place via the tank vent
valve. There must be no build-up of
vacuum during the test. In the event
of a malfunction, wash the vent
valve and hose in STIHL cleaner
and blow clear with compressed air.
Replace components if necessary.
Reassemble in the reverse
sequence.
Make sure the hoses are not kinked.
